WHY ARE WE OBSESSED WITH CLEANING?
Before moving to Singapore, our founder Anthony Lee ran A-Core Engineering for 12 years. Anthony and his team performed plumbing works for restaurants, supermarkets and hotels in Hong Kong.
For 12 years, the team saw how dirty it was behind the scenes. This was especially true for older buildings; the exterior of air-conditioners, pipes and refrigerators were covered in dust and grime. In the interior, bacteria and mold were thriving, causing people to fall ill constantly. Worse yet, they found that furniture that you and I commonly sat on such as cafe sofas and seats were filthier than toilet seats!
Anthony and his team became very concerned with what they saw. Businesses were spending tons of money maintaining their exterior image - think spiderman gliding up buildings cleaning glass windows or million dollar renovations for aesthetics facelifts. However, very little was done to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of 'places that couldn't be seen'. They wondered why this was so even though most restaurants and hotels contracted services for regular cleaning. After observing a few of these cleaning sessions, they found that the level of cleaning was only very superficial; the cleaners were not professionally trained and they were using strong chemicals in order to save time. Customers were not aware of the harmful and short-term efficacy of some of these chemicals. They also did not go to the back-end to check on the outcome of the cleaning.
The A-Core team felt that they needed to do something; they researched and contacted specialist companies in Europe and the US to learn from them. After more than 3 years of research, testing and using their own homes as guinea-pigs, the team developed the 360 ProGuard Strategy which is customized for the Singapore climate.
